Is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Worth Buying?

Xiaomi Redmi has become a global brand in the technology market. Initially, it was considered a mid-range brand, but with time, it evolved into one of the top brands in the mobile industry. The Xiaomi Note series is still one of the best mid-range value-for-money brands. On 04 Jan, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series is launched with three models: Xiaomi Redmi Note 13, Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+.

1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 (4G)

To begin with, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 is the base model of the series. Although a base model, it still has some amazing features in its price category. This model has three variants: the base variant has 6GB RAM & 128 GB ROM, 8GB RAM & 256GB ROM, and the top variant is 12GB RAM & 512GB ROM.

a. Design and Build

The Note 13 comes with a sleek design with a 7.6mm thickness. The phone’s weight is 176g, which is not on the bulkier side considering modern phones. The phone has a plastic frame and back, and the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It supports dual physical SIMs. The phone has an IP 54 rating, meaning it is dust and splash-resistant.

Note 13 comes with a huge and great display of its category. The phone carries a 6.67-inch AMOLED, 1B colors, and 120 Hz refresh rate display. The peak brightness is 1000 nits. Display resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20:9 (395 ppi).

Considering the price of this model, it provides the best value for money in the mid-range segment. The display quality is the best among its competitors.

b. Chipset and Platform

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 carries MediaTek Dimensity 6080 (6nm) chipset. However, the chipset is region-dependent as the phone also comes with Snapdragon 685 (6nm). Mali-G57 MC2 provides GPU support and Adreno 610 for the Snapdragon 685 version. The AnTuTu score of Note 13 is around 3,85,000.

This model comes with MIUI 14, based on Android 13. Moreover, Xiaomi Redmi is planning to move to Hyper OS, so it will upgrade to Hyper OS when it is formally launched.

Xiaomi offers one of the best camera setups for its category. The camera module is capable of supporting 1080p video recording at 30 fps. With such a big sensor, the Note 13 offers no optical image stabilization (OIS) or electronic image stabilization (EIS).

The Note 13 carries a 16 MP, f/2.4 sensor on the front side that can record 1080p video at 30 fps.

Xiaomi already has a good reputation regarding battery size and charging speed. The Note 13 has a huge non-removable 5000 mAh battery. It supports fast charging of 33W; the charger comes in the box, so there is no need to spend extra money on the charger.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 offers the best value-for-money device for under 350 USD. It has good built quality, a great camera setup, and a brilliant display. However, there is still room for an improved chipset.

The Note 13 Pro comes in five variants; hence, it offers much flexibility when choosing one. The base model comes with 8GB RAM & 128 GB ROM; the top variant has 16GB RAM & 512GB ROM.

The Note 13 Pro has a sleek design with 8mm thickness, slightly thicker than the Note 13. The phone’s weight is 187g, which is not heavier considering its design. The phone is built on a plastic frame; the back and front sides are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It supports dual physical SIMs or single SIM with an eSIM. The phone has an IP 54 rating and is dust- and splash-resistant.

The Note 13 Pro comes with a flagship-grade always on display. The phone carries a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, 68B colors, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The peak brightness of the display is 1800 nits. Display resolution is 1220 x 2712 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20:9 (445 ppi).

It also provides one of the best displays for its price category. 

b. Chipset and Platform

The Note 13 Pro carries a 7s Gen 2 (4nm) chipset. However, the chipset is region-dependent as the phone also comes with MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra. Adreno 710 provides the GPU support and Mali-G57 MC2 for the G99-Ultra variant. The AnTuTu benchmark score is 5,81,979 (V10).

The OS system is the same as Note 13 (Android 13, MIUI 14).

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro also has a main triple camera module of 200 MP, f/1.7 main sensor, 8 MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor, and 2 MP, f/2.4 macro sensor. Note 13 Pro offers electronic image stabilization (EIS) for photos and videos.

The Note 13 Pro has a non-removable 5000 mAh battery. It supports fast charging of 67W; it also supports PD3.0 charging. The charger comes in the box.

The Note 13 Pro is undoubtedly among the best phones under 400 USD. The chipset would have been Snapdragon 730 or above. All the other factors are providing the best deal for the phone.

3. Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+

It is the top model of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series. It also has five variants: the base variant has 8GB RAM & 256 ROM, and the top variant has 16GB RAM & 512GB ROM. Note 13 Pro+ has flagship features from build quality to camera setup and display quality. It is one of the best phones under the 500 USD category.

a. Design and Build

The Note 13 Pro+ has a slightly bulky and heavy design with a 7.6mm thickness and almost 200g weight. This is primarily because of the glass back and aluminum frame. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus; the back is either glass or silicone polymer. It supports dual physical SIMs. The phone has an IP 68 rating, meaning it is dust and water-resistant up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.

Note 13 Pro+ has the same display size as the other two models. The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED, 68B colors, and a 120 Hz refresh rate curved display. The peak brightness of the display is 1800 nits. Display resolution is 1220 x 2712 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20:9 (445 ppi).

A dual-tone LED flash for low light/ night supports the camera module. The camera module can support up to 4K video recording at 24/30 fps. Note 13 Pro+ offers electronic image stabilization (EIS) for photos and videos.
